The forklift is an important piece of machinery in most companies that operate distribution centers, warehouses, storage handling and industrial plants. This great machinery, the lift truck is made of many parts, like the important carriage, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Lift trucks normally have different types of attachments as well. The following are some of the most essential parts of a forklift.
Lift Truck Engine - At the back of the equipment, the lift truck has its power source. The different types of engine on the lift truck will need varying power sources. For instance, a forklift with an IC engine could have as its power source any of the following: LP gas, CNG gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Frame of The Truck - The truck frame is the base of the lift truck and the most vital of all the lift truck parts. This forms the core of the equipment. All other parts of a lift truck are attached to the base, like the mast, wheels, axles overhead guard and counterweight. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may be part of the frame assembly as well.
Counterweight Lift Truck Parts - While carrying heavy loads, the counterweight enables the equipment to be balanced. This specific component is cast iron and comes connected to the rear of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery gives balance and can work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also referred to as the operator compartment. Forklifts would sometimes have closed cabs while others will be open to the air. There are a lot of parts situated within the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such essential components like the seats, pedals, levers, switches, operator controls and steering wheel. The dashboard has operator readouts.
