Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on a straight, extendable arm which is situated on a rotating turntable. Normally, telescoping boom lifts are used for jobs that need reaching at maximum height, exceeding other kinds of lifts. Like for example, employees are able to perform exterior renovations or repairs on buildings of medium height but using these lifts rather than having the additional work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one individual. These buckets are more suited to specific jobs such as electrical repair, rather than window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are available with both indoor and outdoor tires and are available in gas or electric configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Beneath the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the equipment gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. As these kinds of machinery must be positioned directly under the work location, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
The scissor lift typically has a larger platform which enables the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a problem with these types of machines, since they should sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for cladding or window installation, because they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a great choice for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Boom trucks, bucket trucks and cherry pickers each refer to the class a type of utility vehicle utilized specially for vertical work. Usually, these kinds of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and controls the machinery. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand in addition to a winch for carrying and an actuator arm for raising the boom.
Cherry pickers can lift workers up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to lift both heavy materials and equipment for one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types that can perform a variety of purposes. Both of these different kinds of machinery excel at various jobs and are suitable for specific applications and completing certain tasks.
