Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the types of aisles they have been designed to operate in. Narrow Aisle and Wide Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whilst Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn within the aisle. There are several aisle widths to consider with different units.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks could work in less than 6 feet places, while several will utilize certain guidance systems such as wire, optical or rail systems in order to travel within the aisles. Several different models of VNA trucks include Order Selectors, Turret Trucks and Swing Masts. These are popular models in tight retail spaces and in several storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle trucks can operate within aisles from 8 feet to 10 feet wide. Normally these are stand-up units like Reach Trucks. They are commonly used in storage facilities and warehouses.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work within aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard which is made to lessen operator fatigue by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the operator is very large and has an 8" low step height that helps reduce overall body exhaustion by easing frequent exit and entry. The model consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest as well as a backrest designed to help keep drivers comfortable and thus more productive while limiting exhaustion.
