Tower Crane Parts
Some of the most wonderful structures throughout the globe are made with cranes. The newer cranes are utilized in order to reach higher heights. Tower cranes offer the way to move and lift materials, tools and building parts all around a construction site. There are a few different parts which assemble a tower crane once they are put together. Putting a tower crane together utilizes various pieces of construction machines.

Base
The tower crane base is typically made from a steel unit. The base of the unit attaches to a custom pad made of concrete. This set-up gives the structure stability. Generally, the construction must be engineered and constructed well so as to operate at optimum safety.

Mast
The tower cranes mast provides height to the machine. The mast is made of connected steel parts. The amount of parts determines the height of the crane. Typically, a tower crane has a design which enables the mast to grow during construction by adding more sections as the building process goes on. This way the crane's height can be specified, making certain that it has sufficient height to carry out the required work efficiently and safely.

Slewing Unit/Top Climber
Above the mast is the slewing unit. It houses the motor and equipment which allows the crane to rotate. A top climber is the piece of machinery that allows the mast to grow. The top climber is situated just below the slewing unit. Hydraulic rams in the top climber allow the slewing unit to be disconnected from the mast by raising it higher.

Boom
The term "boom", refers to the tower crane's working arm. The boom is made up of separate steel parts which are attached together, extending out from the top of the slewing unit and parallel to the ground. There is a trolley attached to the underside which could run the length of the boom. This particular trolley has the hoisting device.
