Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places orderly and to pile up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck comes in quite a few models: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are only one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular version has telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This model is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Often more than one type of reach truck is required in warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and can increase productivity while maximizing available storage space.
